# nombra.la

> nombra.la finds the shortest domain names that are actually available to register, including domain hacks (kubernet.es, del.icio.us), word-as-TLD names (best.coffee) and compressed names (flckr.com). It also tracks every delegated TLD and every string applied for in ICANN's 2026 new gTLD round. Free to use, no account needed. Available in es, en, fr, de, zh.

## How it works
- Length is the number of characters in the displayed (Unicode) registrable domain, dot included: rob.cr = 6. Ties break by ASCII length, name type, TLD relevance, then price.
- Name types: exact, domain hack (the word ends in a TLD), subdomain hack (del.icio.us registers icio.us), word-as-TLD, compressed (vowel drop, truncation, initials, phonetic swaps), AI-suggested.
- Availability comes from the Vercel Registrar API for TLDs Vercel sells; otherwise DNS-over-HTTPS plus the registry's RDAP service. A missing DNS record alone is never treated as "available"; TLDs without RDAP are shown as unverified.
- Prices are per year in USD as reported by the Vercel Registrar API.
- TLDs applied for in ICANN's 2026 round (for example .agent) are listed separately as "Coming later" and are never availability-checked. The earliest industry estimate for first launches is Q2 2028 (not ICANN-confirmed).
